November Art Walk

As Community Artist in the Parks, I have dedicated this tenure to gathering stories of the traditions and medicinal uses of plants native to the parks while also creating art inspired by those plants, and informed by the places they grow.

Part of my commitment is to the creation of original work within the parks for a minimum of 24 hours per month, April through October, while sharing my inspiration and creative process with visitors. The other part of my commitment as Community Artist in the Parks is to facilitate Community Outreach. I will be collaborating with the Moab Museum and Delicate Stitchers (Quilter’s Guild of Moab) for the August Art Walk with a call for plant stories for potential inclusion in the Moab Museum’s Oral History Collection.

By the end of my tenure, I will take the stories I have gathered, and combine this with the art I have made - to create a cohesive body of work to share with the community. My hope is that sharing these stories and the art side by side will be part inspirational and part educational. My hope is to allow people to immerse themselves more deeply into a knowledge and awareness of the plants that dot our landscape.

This show will kick off as part of Moab’s November Art Walk. My work will be on display at the MARC starting November 1st, 2024.
